Shooting Spring Ice Breakup
The forecast suggested clouds, and I was hoping to capture the last pieces of ice in Barrier Lake with an epic, firework display of a sunrise as the backdrop. The morning was cool, but comfortable. The sounds of ice chunks grinding in the water punctuated the air. As the sun slowly rose, I didn’t get my rosy display, but instead this feint purple hue illuminated the clouds over Mt Baldy. I set my camera up with a 6 stop ND filter, slowed the exposure down to 25 seconds, and waited.
